In the tradition of Diego Rivera and Siquieros, we support the development of political muralists and cultural workers that can beautify our neighborhoods and transform our experiences into images on a wall. All of our students identify as artists, and seek art-related careers and job opportunities. Visual Element provides a positive, community-based outlet for creative expression that many young graffiti writers would otherwise find in illegal painting.

Second, it facilitates a broad curriculum in aerosol art, hip-hop activism, computers, graphic design, portfolio development, business etiquette, and mural production that is rooted in a popular form of youth culture. Third, it provides a legitimate employment training opportunity for young artists in an artistic environment where they can maximize on the skills they already have. Visual Element presents a unique opportunity for non-profit organizations, community-based groups, schools, and local vendors to beautify their surroundings while funding a youth enterprise. And finally, it promotes healthy intergenerational relationships between youth and caring adult artists.
